When I ran for Council in 2016, my intention was to serve two terms. For the last couple of years, I’ve been telling residents that I will not stand for re-election in 2024. Regularly, residents would tell me that I was doing a good job and that it’s too bad I won’t be on Council after 2024.
Over the past few months, I have heard from many residents asking me to reconsider. With all three seats on the Halifax Peninsula being vacated and the mayor stepping down, many residents and small-business people have been telling me they’re concerned about the extraordinary changes on Council and in our city. As a result of these requests, I have indeed reconsidered and am announcing that I will stand for re-election in the October 2024 municipal election. There is so much work to continue. My plans are to continue to push for Halifax to become more environmentally and financially sustainable, to be a vibrant, welcoming, healthy, and active city, and for us to see smart development in our continued growth.
